Morning Prayer is a said service with prayers, psalms and bible readings. We pray for God’s blessing for the day ahead, for the world and those in need. The service lasts around 30 minutes.

Durham University Summer Congregations

9:00am to 5:15pm

During Durham University Congregations, there will be limited access to the cathedral, with the only the cloisters, restaurant and shop open.

Holy Communion

12:30pm to 1:00pm

A service of prayers and Bible readings, in which we offer bread and wine to God in thanksgiving for his goodness to us, which we receive back as the body and blood of Christ. The service lasts around 30 minutes.

Riverbank History Walk

2:00pm

The woodlands and riverbanks that surround the cathedral are a hidden gem, rich in the natural and cultural heritage of the area. The history walk is 1.5 miles long and reveals secrets about the hidden heritage of the cathedral’s woodlands and riverbanks. MEETING POINT: Western Doors situated by the Visitor Desk.

Evening Prayer

5:30pm to 6:15pm The Nave

Psalm 79

Evening Prayer is a said service with prayers, psalms and bible readings. We follow the service using the Book of Common Prayer of 1662 giving thanks for the day that has past. The service lasts around 20 minutes.

Late Night Openings

6:30pm to 9:00pm

Experience Durham Cathedral at night, with sunset tower views and serene evening atmosphere.

Graduation Dinner

6:30pm

Celebrate graduation in style with a special dinner inside the historic Durham Cathedral.
